What's New?

Here you'll find musings on life, birth and the messiness of being that fits in between.

Birth education is your own responsibility.

Just like everything else in life, birth education is our own responsibility.

It is so easy to get pulled into the mainstream lane of life.

Everyone else is doing it, so why not me?

Yet there are many things that mainstream culture promotes that aren't evidence based or don't actually feel good to be doing.

Some of those are:

- Mainstream diet. Consisting of something beige with every meal, copious amounts of sugar and the occasional vegetable. Charging 1000x more for organic food because of course eating food not soaked in pesticides should be a privilege.

- Mainstream periods. Use bleach soaked tampons to make it like you don't even have a period. Go on birth control to numb your cycle *and your mind* 🤪 Mainstream parenting. Don't EVER co-sleep with your kid!! They will definitely die. Ship them out into their own room at 6 months old. Leave them to cry it out, they need to learn to sleep.

- Mainstream baby feeding. Fed is best, of course *heavily promoted by formula companies*. Don't set your heart on breastfeeding because it's too hard and you'll probably quit. You don't want to feed on demand because your 4 month old is definitely just trying to manipulate you 🙃

- Mainstream life. Of course you need a big house with a big mortgage. You need to work every hour under the sun to pay for the big house you are hardly ever in because you work every hour under the sun. But just think of the 1 day a week you actually get to spend in it together as a family. The dream 😍

Birth is no different. Don't get pulled into the mainstream. Question everything. You've got this!
